It is a unique field in which the photographer is totally responsible for all technical and creative aspects of the photograph. The choice of subject, lighting, background, color palette, composition, and location all fall under the complete control of the photographer, who can skillfully breathe life into their inanimate subjects. It also provides ample room for experimentation, as the photographer has plenty of time to set up his photo.
In order to be successful at still life photography, one needs to find ways to make their photos visually attractive. Thus still life is an excellent style of photography for learning and mastering new skills; It is all about converting lifeless everyday objects to visually pleasing and meaningful photographs, and there lies a significant challenge.
I photographed landscapes, macro subjects, portraits, and abstract. My previous knowledge in creative elements helped in advancing and honing my photography skills. About two years ago, during the COVID19 lockdown, I started creating a series of photographs triggered by my passion for still life art. I developed a painterly still life photography style that echoes the Old Masters' Renaissance and Baroque artworks. The result was still life fine art photographs that tell a visual story. Some of the images I create tell a personal story, while others are meant to generate a nostalgic mood transferring the viewer to a time when life was much simpler and less complex.
