In pursuit of road race success, Fitness Project participant James Bullen heads to the track for a day of aero testing.
What an amazing experience! Earlier this month I was lucky enough to take part in a testing day with aerodynamics extraordinaire Xavier Disley (aero-coach.co.uk) on the outdoor track at Halesowen, West Midlands. Disley used the Garmin Track Aero System to monitor how my drag coefficient (CdA) changed as variables — my position and kit — were altered. The aim was to reduce my frontal area (the A part) as well as the aerodynamic efficiency of the shape I cut through the air (the Cd bit).
