Carthy In The Mix As Giro Hits Mountains

Briton has been one of the best climbers at the Giro and is a future GC star

EF Education First’s Hugh Carthy spent a day in the young riders’ white jersey, while a fourth place on stage 15 to Como saw him move up to 14th place on GC.

The 24-year-old Lancastrian pulled on the white jersey at the end of stage 12 to Pinerolo, but his obligations lasted just one day as Miguel Angel López (Team Astana) moved ahead the following day. By the rest day is was Team Ineos’s Pavel Sivakov who held it while sitting in ninth place.

Just nine minutes separate the top four young riders, all of whom look set to make a further impact on this year’s race.
