Trek’s latest endurance machine is its most aero, integrated and versatile yet
Trek has announced an update to its endurance range, unveiling Domane SL and SLR models featuring new wind tunnel-tested tube shapes that will save a minute per hour, while a reworked IsoSpeed decoupler gives a claimed 27 per cent increase in compliance over the previous model.
The sculpted front end of the new Domane certainly looks lifted straight from the aero Madone and the new straight fork is said to help the bike cut through the air more efficiently. New integrated cable routing should also help save more watts.
IsoSpeed features on the SL and SLR bikes, with the latter using the adjustable top tube IsoSpeed tech that was launched with the Madone last summer. The slider, which is positioned under the top tube, allows riders to fine-tune compliance to match the terrain — with the new Domane, Trek is looking beyond the rough roads and cobbles that the old model was designed for and is taking aim at gravel.
