Symon Lewis gets the lowdown on the latest iteration of a modern-day classic race bike
It is hard to argue against the fact that the Pinarello Dogma, which has been ridden to multiple Grand Tour wins by Team Sky, is one of the most successful road bikes of the modern era.
So it was big news and perfectly timed too, that its latest incarnation, the Dogma F12, launched at the same time Team Sky rebranded to Team Ineos.
The new Dogma, which comes in rim and disc-brake versions, has been two years in the making, with Pinarello using a raft of studies to come up with the best shape in terms of structure and aerodynamics — but unusually for an Italian bike brand, there’s no mention of passion as yet.
Like the previous versions of the Dogma F family — first seen back in 2014 with the F8 — Pinarello says the one thing that had to be carried over from the previous versions was its ‘all-round’ capability; according to Fausto Pinarello, the new Dogma is simply a fast bike rather than an aero bike.
