Relaxed Roglič poised to strike

Stealthy Slovenian bides his time for red jersey move, writes Vern Pitt

Despite being a minute and a half away from the Vuelta a España’s red leader’s jersey it was likely to still be Primož Roglic that was occupying the thoughts of all the GC contenders as the race entered its second rest day.

His presence in the peloton has had the air of a crocodile lying in wait, mostly hidden from view but ready to strike with force when he deems the time is right. When he poked his head above the water last week on the steep finishing climb to Valdepeñas de Jaén he snapped up victory.
