STADIUM
There have been several changes to Sparta Prague’s stadium over the years but the club have resided at the same ground since 1917. Sparta’s first stadium is only 200 meters from where the team currently play and was in use from 1905 until 1917. Four years after moving, the club built new the first grandstand in Czechoslovakia, increasing the stadium’s capacity to 17,000 spectators. A fire destroyed the wooden grandstand in 1934 but the stadium reopened six months later with a concrete main stand which remains to this day. Major renovations took place in 1967 when the club replaced almost the entirety of the stadium with the exception of the main stand. Further changes to the ground occurred in 1994 when the Generali Arena had seating installed in line with UEFA regulations.
