In the age of social media a lot of cricketers today gain instant superstardom. One great knock or one decent match-winning bowling performance makes the fans and media go crazy and several players are hailed and labeled as superstars of the era. In reality, however, many of these players fail to live up to their name and are more about hype than actual performance. Here is a look at five overrated cricketers of the current era you shouldn’t waste your time on.

ANDRE RUSSELL (WEST INDIES)

While he is a superstar and much-sought after player in all the popular T20 leagues all over the world, Andre Russell has hardly been able to live up to his tremendous name in international cricket. He wallops bowlers all over the park in the IPL and CPL, but averages a very poor 17.88 in 47 T20Is for the West Indies without a single fifty-plus score. In ODIs too Russell has managed only 998 runs thus far in 52 games at a poor average of 28.51. There is no denying that Andre Russell is a powerhouse performer in domestic T20 leagues but a highly overrated name in international cricket.
