After a whirlwind start to his everton career, forward Ademola Lookman has settled into life at goodison, grateful for the opportunity afforded to him – and aiming to fulfil his ambitions
When I’m at home, I often think about where I am today, how far I’ve come and how long I’ve still got to go. I’m proud – but I still want to kick on and do more because there’s a lot more to do, a lot more to achieve.”
The whirlwind career of Ademola Lookman is showing no signs of slowing down.
If his move to Everton, just three years after playing in local parks for London amateur side, Waterloo FC, wasn’t enough of a fairytale, the young attacker is already sitting on a handful of first-team appearances for the Blues and, of course, his first goal, coming just three minutes into his debut with an unforgettable low strike that rounded off a magical afternoon at Goodison Park against Manchester City.
Since making his Blues bow, Look man has been involved in every matchday squad, making successive starts against Bournemouth, Middles brough and Sunderland. Not bad for a 19-year-old who played for Charlton Athletic against MK Dons in League One on Boxing Day.
“I probably wouldn’t have believed it,” smiles Lookman when asked about his recent run of first-team starts for Ronald Koeman’s side.
“But I always believed that I had the ability to become something in football. I always thought that I could become a professional footballer. I knew what I’d been given from God. There were times when I doubted it but I knew deep down.”
