‘Are my clubs doing my game justice?’ is a question every golfer should ask themselves. Since different physical strengths and limitations result in vastly differing swings, each with their own idiosyncrasies.
To answer the question, Golf Asia headed down to the Titleist Singapore National Fitting Centre (Titleist NFC) to get custom fit for Titleist’s new 2021 T-Series irons. Boasting state-of-the-art technology and a fastidious fitting process, the Titleist NFC conducts club fittings for golfers of every level, from social to elite amateurs and professionals.
Titleist Club Fitting Specialist Andrew Rogers shared, “If you are going to buy new golf clubs, you should get fitted regardless. Fitting isn’t about locking you into one way of swinging it. It’s about helping to unlock the good things about your swing and maybe mitigate the bad things.”
If you’re thinking, ‘I’m not a serious golfer, why get custom fit when my swing isn’t consistent?’ Andrew explained that golfers often have a heightened sense of their inconsistencies by focusing on outcomes on the golf course, where balls can go everywhere but the target.
“With the advent of Trackman, we can peel back those layers and look a little more deeply. Sometimes, the club can be contributing to those bad shots. What is the club influencing in your swing? A fitter’s goal is how do we make a set of clubs complement your swing, and not work against you.”
