At The Inaugural Augusta National Women’s Amateur, Slated For The Week Before This Year’s Masters, Change—and Empowerment—will Take The Tee

Beyond the par-4 fifth hole at Augusta National—right of the fairway, west of the property—sits Berckmans Place, an uber-exclusive retreat at the holy grail of golf tournaments. That’s where Condoleezza Rice greeted patrons on Masters Monday in 2013. She was there by 8 a.m., 72 hours before the first tee shots were struck, smiling and shaking hands and taking photos.
