Winning the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, the European Tour’s flagship event, was such a thrill and I still remember everything so vividly one year later
It's amazing that it's been a year since I won the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth. Everything is still so clear in my mind. I remember, going back to that Saturday afternoon, I’d finished my third round and had played so well and only shot two-under. It felt like I’d turned a 64 into a 70 and when you think back, you feel ‘that was my chance there’ and I was pretty frustrated. It’s a huge event and it had Ryder Cup connotations, and I thought I had missed my chance.
But I had good chats with Phil Kenyon, my putting coach, and my dad, and they both said the same – you are playing so well, so just be patient, that sort of thing. My former coach also told me a Sunday 67 would get it done. Those three conversations gave me some good focus.
I came out firing on Sunday. I hit a great shot on the 1st with a 6-iron and then I eagled 4, birdied 5, birdied 7 and birdied 9. It was one of those rounds where you just have perfect yardages. It was nuts. I never really had to do anything with the ball – I could be really aggressive and it paid off.

Is it Time for the Presidents Cup to Be Scrapped? - The next instalment of the USA v Internationals match takes place in Canada at the end of September. But should the one-sided affair continue?
The next instalment of the USA v Internationals match takes place in Canada at the end of September. But should the one-sided affair continue? Why would anyone even suggest such a drastic course of action? It may sound harsh, but since the inaugural event in 1994, the International team has managed just one victory and one tie while the American team has won 12 times, including nine straight from 2005. It is 26 years since the International team's solitary success in 1998 at Royal Melbourne under the captaincy of the late Peter Thomson.
