I am happy to admit I have a problem. It is a problem which has become particularly difficult since I took my seat on the red sofa for BBC Breakfast.
The job means that on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday I have to get up at 3:15am. My particular problem seems to be the Monday following The Masters. Going to bed at 1:30am and getting up under two hours later is bad enough. Having to then look half decent is another matter. I realise I am a grown man, but I feel Justin Rose and Sergio Garcia should take some of the blame.
I did momentarily consider calling it a night when Sergio hooked his drive into the woods on the 13th, but that lasted all of about four seconds. The fact that Mr Rose showed so much class in defeat was as certain as the fact he will challenge again.
The Englishman burst on the scene at the home of this year’s Open, Royal Birkdale. I love the buzz around our Open – the crowds, the history and the way it baffles the best when the wind and driving rain kick in.
