Edwards Gets Full M-Sport WRC2 Entry For Wales Rally GB

British Rally Championship frontrunner Matt Edwards will compete on this month’s Wales Rally GB in WRC2, with a full works-backed M-Sport entry.

The Welshman finished third in the BRC points this year, and he was drafted in by M-Sport to score points for the manufacturer in the BRC Teams’ Championship on the final round, Rally Isle of Man, in which he finished second on both legs. That helped to give Keith Cronin – M-Sport’s lead driver – the championship as Fredrik Ahlin needed a pair of seconds if Cronin won both legs.

Edwards was set to repeat his job of driving the zero car on this year’s Wales Rally GB, where his quick thinking saved a stage last year when he removed some spectators from a dangerous place.

“It doesn’t seem real,” said Edwards of the opportunity to compete. “You’ve dreamt about it since you started watching rallying and then all of a sudden I’m going to do it now.”
