THE PLACE
The name of OrangeTheory comes from the way the workouts are designed here. Before each session, you are required to pair your chosen heart rate monitor with your personal display screen. With five colour-coded zones, you’re generally expected to keep your heart rate in the orange zone, which, for most of us reading this magazine, is the easy part.
The hard part is when you discover that each workout session is a total surprise. The idea is that this forces you to switch around frequently to better condition your body with variety, and also ensures that you don’t fall into a comfort zone and start attending only one type of workout.
There’s nothing overly technical though, as the rowing machines, treadmills, and various other exercise equipment are easy to get a hang of even if you’re not a regular gym rat. Also, if you don’t own a heart rate monitor, rental units are available at both locations.
THE VIBE
OrangeTheory operates from permanent locations in Gopeng Street and Martin Road.
