CONFIDENCE AND TOGETHERNESS

It may have been an encouraging start to the season for us as we march forward d on three fronts but, f for captain HUGO LLORIS, there is stills a lot of work for us to do on the p pitch if we are going g to realise our ambitions this campaign.

CONFIDENCE AND TOGETHERNESS

Hugo Lloris earned his first clean sheet of the season in Monday night’s 1-0 win over Burnley at Turf Moor.

That result was only our 10th league win at the Lancashire ground since our formation in 1882. The three points we picked up extended our unbeaten run to 10 games.

It also continued our run of away wins – ahead of Thursday’s visit to Royal Antwerp, we’ve been victorious on the road in each of our five games on the road this season.

The triumph over Burnley also lifted us to fifth in the Premier League table and just two points off top spot.

Yet, despite all the encouraging statistics and headlines that have come our way so far this season, Hugo demands more.

He always challenges for more and will always strive for better from not just himself, but his team-mates as well. It is an unrelenting part of his makeup. You don’t lead your country to World Cup glory without that desire and ambition.

Performances like our display at Burnley will have pleased our skipper – it was one of resilience, fight and most of all, discipline, as we battled until the end to get our just rewards. And his personal efforts throughout the game epitomised that.

He led by example, as he always does. Our hosts didn’t get many shots away but the ones they did, the French international dealt with them with ease. Just as importantly though, with the Clarets sending in high, searching crosses into our box to challenge the organisation of our defence, Hugo was there, ready to bravely claim them and avert any danger.
