BILLY SHAW canvasses opinions from across the club on a particular topic.
On the agenda today…
LEADERS IN THE SQUAD
Mauricio Pochettino told Spurs TV last week that “we need to create leaders, not followers” – and the recent international break was a great example of the abundance of such individuals that we have at the club.
With Spurs and France captain Hugo Lloris on the sidelines along with England lynchpin Harry Kane, Eric Dier and Jan Vertonghen both captained their respective countries while Christian Eriksen stepped up to take responsibility when it mattered, firing in a sparkling hat-trick to send Denmark to the World Cup at the expense of Republic of Ireland.
In total, seven members of our current squad have worn the armband for us at club level at one stage or another and with experienced campaigners like Mousa Dembele and the recently-acquired Fernando Llorente – a World Cup winner with Spain – also in the mix, you don’t have to look far to locate someone who can make the difference on the pitch. Here’s what today’s panel had to say on the subject…
Do you get the impression that there is a strong sense of leadership reverberating around the squad?
