JOSE BECOMES AMBASSADOR FOR SCHEME SUPPORTING CHILDREN IN CARE

Jose Mourinho has become an Ambassador for a Tottenham Hotspur Foundation scheme providing support for children in care to achieve better educational outcomes.

The Club has delivered To Care Is To Do for more than 15 years as it aims to help reduce the gap in educational achievement between children in care and their peers.

With statistics showing higher numbers of school absentees, school exclusions and unemployment amongst children in care and care leavers, To Care Is To Do aims to enable participants to:

• Achieve better results at school

• Feel confident and positive about their own futures

• Develop new and existing skills

• Raise awareness around healthy living and active lifestyles

• Prepare for independence and adulthood

This is achieved via a range of personal development and enrichment activities including cookery classes, money management courses, social events and days out, cultural visits, mentoring and provision of work experience.

Jose announced his support for the programme at the annual Haringey Educational Achievement Awards held in December, where many young people on the programme were recognised for outstanding achievements in school.

The Club’s Head Coach will invite groups of young people involved in To Care Is To Do on regular visits to the Tottenham Hotspur Training Centre, where he will deliver mentoring sessions promoting selfbelief and achievement.

He will also attend key events throughout the calendar - including educational awards ceremonies and social events.
