SUNNY, WITH A CHANCE OF GOALS!

There have been goals galore for us in recent weeks, but for HEUNG-MIN SON, it has been far more than just our attacking exploits which makes him confident and optimistic ahead of the rest of the campaign.

SUNNY, WITH A CHANCE OF GOALS!

For Heung-Min Son, the latest international break couldn’t have come at a worse time.

After a hectic spell of fixtures, we were flying high after three wins in just six days. We had progressed to the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup after a statement penalty shoot-out victory over capital rivals Chelsea, booked our place in the group stages of the Europa League with a comprehensive 7-2 win over Maccabi Haifa – our biggest ever triumph at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – before we pulled off an historic rout at Old Trafford last time out as we stormed to a 6-1 victory. That extended our unbeaten run to seven in all competitions.

One of the standout features of our games this season, particularly the latter two, has been our potency in front of goal. In half of our eight outings so far, we have scored three of more goals. In three of those, we have scored at least five.

But, perhaps the element of our performances which has been quite understated is the fight we have shown. In five of those eight games, we have fallen behind, yet in four of those, we have ended up coming out on top.

We have shown fight and resilience against tough opposition as well as a bruising schedule. So, while we are just a month into the new season, making it too early to draw any firm understanding of where our year is heading, the attitude and desire the players are showing to deliver on the pitch is certainly providing confidence and optimism.

Then came the enforced break to our run via last week’s international fixtures. After the busy schedule our squad had endured the week before, the pause in club duties may be welcomed by some but Sonny – who is currently on a run of seven goals and three assists in just his last four games – was eager to just keep going.
