Whether you are a business owner looking for a reliable security solution for your establishment, or a homeowner scouting for a surveillance system to monitor your home when you are away on vacation, it is ideal to have a camera network that can be easily set up and allows remote monitoring. The TPLink VIGI surveillance system does that and more with the help of a user-friendly system of cameras and recording device.
My experience with surveillance systems have been, till now, limited to those Wi-Fi-enabled desktop and bullet cameras that allow you to monitor personal spaces. Hence when this enterprise-level system landed at my home office, I was a little perplexed about the challenges of reviewing it under the limitations of a work-from-home arrangement. However, once everything was set up, the system worked with the plug-and-play simplicity we are all familiar with. The data link was established with ethernet connections from an ADSL router.
The surveillance system includes three hardware components — the NVR1008H, the C400HP turret camera and the C300HP outdoor bullet camera. In addition to this, the VIGI system provides a Security Manager software that can be used to monitor and record the footage on your computer if you do not have the NVR.
VIGI NVR1008H
The NVR1008H is an eight-channel network video recorder (NVR) that allows you to configure and monitor up to eight cameras in the network. The device works best with VIGI series of cameras, though it supports other surveillance cameras too.
