Ras Al Khaimah, one of the seven emirates that make the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is one of the world’s fastest growing tourism destinations. In order to attract more Indian tourists, the emirate hosted the 2017 annual convention of the Outbound Tour Operators Association of India (OTOAI).
Around 170 travel partners from all over India attended the third annual convention of OTOAI in Ras Khaimah, which is a 45-minute drive from the Dubai international airport. The convention took place at the Hilton Al Hamra Convention Centre. Delegates were put up at the Waldorf Astoria, one of the biggest luxurious properties of the land.
India is expected to account for over 6.5 million outbound tourists each year, just from luxury and MICE tourists by 2020. The projected market growth accounts for the Ministry of Tourism’s official outbound tourism figures; especially for India’s current 1.5 million outbound MICE travellers and 3.6 million outbound luxury travellers. As calculated by the Master Card, both markets are forecast to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.6 pc to 2020.
The emirate of Ras Al Khaimah which is still largely unexplored by the Indian outbound market, hosted the top outbound luxury and MICE tour operators from India to explore the potential for its growth in the Indian market. In order to achieve a target growth of one million visitors by the end of 2018, Ras Al Khaimah is expected to utilise this golden opportunity to connect with the booming Indian outbound industry at the highest level.
