Washing hair is one of the most essential parts of a self-care regime. After all, a gorgeous mane is fresh, bouncy, with a lot of shine; and it looks as good as it feels. Your clients may assume that regular shampoos are good for healthy hair, but help them to reconsider that notion. To maintain healthy hair, it is important to use a mild shampoo rather than one with harsh chemicals that are often found in regular shampoos.
REGULAR SHAMPOOS HAVE HARMFUL INGREDIENTS
While the results after the hair wash might not make a difference in appearance, it is important to note that ingredients present in a regular shampoo affect hair and scalp differently. Look for the ingredients before making a purchase.
Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES)
Sulfates help remove sebum from the scalp. While t helps to effectively clean scalp buildup, SLES is so harsh that it damages hair strands by making them brittle and causing frizz. They can also prove to be harsh on sensitive scalps.
Parabens
Parabens prevent bacteria from growing in cosmetics and shampoos. This preservative is said to mimic the hormone estrogen and has been linked to promoting growth of breast cancer cells.
Salt (Sodium Chloride)
Otherwise mentioned as sodium chloride on the packaging, basically maintains a thick consistency in shampoos. This ingredient can irritate sensitive scalps and also contribute to hair loss.
