Jewellery designer Ambra Gambale ’s handcrafted work has a curious undercurrent of magic realism, with a strong emphasis on bespoke pieces
As a child, precious stones fascinated South African-Italian designer Ambra. She’d collect them wherever she could: a scratch patch, her mother’s closet or in nature, and keep them in trays or display them in glass pyramids in her bedroom. This fascination trickled down into dreams of underwater treasures. She began feeling creatively restless; sketching pieces of jewellery in an attempt to ‘work out’ her recurring treasure-like dreams – essentially developing her very first range of jewellery.
