He put a ring on it! The father-of five is finally settling down.
With his endearing English charm, Hugh Grant appeared to be ideal husband material in Four Weddings and a Funeral, but never actually managed to say “I do” in the hit film.
And it looked like his life was going to take a similar turn when the popular actor got to his mid-fifties without making it down the aisle. But never say never – Hugh (57) has finally become a married man, tying the knot with his long-term partner Anna Eberstein.
The pair, who have three children together, exchanged vows at a registry office in Chelsea, London, last week. Hugh gave traditional wedding attire a miss, instead wearing a smart blue suit with a tie, while Swedish TV producer Anna (39) opted for a casual outfit of a simple blue shirt and miniskirt.
Both sported rings afterwards – Anna’s was a traditional gold band, while Hugh had an ornate silver ring with three red stones – and matching smiles.
The fact he’d actually got married came as a shock to many of those close to the actor, with one of them saying, “This is a day none of Hugh’s friends ever thought would come.”
That’s probably because the Love Actually star has always maintained he doesn’t believe in marriage. He told an interviewer in 2015, “I’ve seen very few good examples, maybe five, in my life, but I think otherwise it’s a recipe for mutual misery.”
