Kylie Hall Hops Aboard the Tranzalpine Train for a Quick Break

As I step on the platform − dressed in my winter coat, blue beret in place and a smile plastered on my face − I really do feel like I’m heading off to distant lands!

In reality, I’ve run away from home, just for a few days, to escape the humdrum of school lunches, work and the inevitable taxi driving that comes with having two active children.

Home for the next five hours is the awe-inspiring TranzAlpine train. I’ll be traversing from one side of the stunning South Island to the other, east coast to west. Ranked as one of the most fabulous train trips in the world,

I’m keen to see what all the fuss is about. I’m a first-timer and arrive snap happy, ready to capture my great train escape.
