Sandra Clair (51) Is a Medical Herbalist and Scientist Who Founded Natural Health Company Artemis
“I grew up in Switzerland, where plant medicine is part and parcel of primary healthcare, so I’ve used plant medicine since I was little.
We used drugs more for emergencies rather than for self-limiting complaints like colds or flu and eczema, which we treated with plant medicine. That’s just what was normal, it’s not just with my family. Most of my childhood was spent in nature.
I grew up in the foothills of the Swiss Alps, which is an amazingly beautiful area. I still go back once a year just to spend time there.
My parents were members of a tramping club and we spent our weekends in the Alps, so I had a very personal connection with the goodness of nature as well as having personal experience of the benefits of plant medicines.
My granddad was 100 when he passed away. He led a very natural lifestyle. I noticed that people who engaged in healthy practices and used plant medicine tended to have robust health into old age, while those who didn’t had more fragile health, so it really sparked my interest and I wanted to know more about it.
