How the Prince is Putting His House and Responsibilities in Order
In the three months since the birth of his son Archie, Prince Harry has had to do more than get used to nappy changes and sleepless nights.
Fatherhood has brought him to a crossroads and he’s now having to work out how to juggle his new commitments with his royal role.
He’s made it clear that family comes first, and these days family means his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex (38), and their wee boy.
However, he still has a duty to the royal family, and balancing the two is going to be tricky for the new dad, say sources close to the prince. His new focus has already led to decisions that have caused waves, such as separating his and Meghan’s household from that of his brother Prince William.
Understandably, Harry’s thinking a lot about the future of his little family, say sources close to the royals.
“Harry is besotted with his son and his wife, and he’d spend every minute with them if he could,” tells a palace insider.
“But, he knows he has responsibilities that have to be carried out, no matter how much he would like to be with his family instead.”
Harry (34) has previously admitted that he often struggles with being a royal and that there have been times when he has seriously thought about giving up his title.
In 2017 he confessed that he loved being in the army because it gave him the chance to escape royal life, and he’d considered whether it was possible to reinvent himself as a career soldier and no longer carry out official duties.
“I didn’t want to be in the position I was in, but I eventually pulled my head out of the sand, started listening to people and decided to use my role for good. I felt I wanted out [of the royal family] but then decided to stay and work out a role for myself,” he said at the time.
