Stay Social
When life seems too tough to handle or you lose a loved one, it can be tempting to withdraw from others and retreat into your shell. But having the face-toface support of other people is vital to building and maintaining resilience. Talking things through helps release tension, and it's far healthier than keeping your feelings bottled up inside. Often, people want to help but don't know how, so tell them what you need, whether it's a shoulder to cry on, a listening ear, or just someone to spend time with. The key is not to isolate yourself. It's the human connection - eye contact, a smile or a hug - that can make all the difference.
Be Kind To Yourself
When things get tough it is normal to feel physically and emotionally exhausted, so bear in mind that you are likely to need more rest than usual. Try not to judge yourself for not "doing better" or "keeping it together". Instead, notice when you're putting yourself down and aim to tell yourself something positive and uplifting instead.
