Wanting a better life is very much a part of being an evolved adult and with all the resources at hand, it seems like something that’s doable given enough time and willpower. Many self-help books offer tools to make lasting and healthy changes. Robin Sharma is a leadership and performance expert who introduced The 5 AM Club concept over 20 years ago to his clients to maximize their productivity. Read on to see what his latest book offers.
20/20/20 COULD BE THE MAGIC NUMBER
Essentially The 5 AM Club book promises that by setting aside the first hour in your day to be deliberate about self-care and planning, the rewards will manifest throughout the day in personal and professional areas. The 20/20/20 principle states that the first hour is split between 20 minutes of exercise, the second 20 minutes reviewing your goals and daily plan and the last 20 growing and learning. This could mean anything from learning a new language to reading or listening to a podcast. The idea is that having time alone with no distractions, allows you to be very specific about goals and future growth. Sharma had this to say about what he calls the Golden Hour, “Getting up at dawn is perfect self-control training. Increasing self-control in one area of your life elevates self-control in all areas of your life.”
