Why Women Go Off Sex So Soon

That men and women’s sexual appetites can be vastly different is no secret – and most of us are aware that passion in a relationship can fade as time goes on. But shock new research has revealed that women can start to go off sex within just 12 months! In fact, women are four times more likely to lose interest in making love after just one year of being with their partner – particularly if they live together. By contrast, women who didn’t live with their partners were 41% less likely to be lacking interest in having sex. Here, Woman’s Own speaks to a couple who know all too well about the pitfalls of suffering the dreaded one-year itch…

Emma Pearce, 34, lives in St Austell, Cornwall, with her partner Allan Blake, 28, and their nine month-old son, Archie.

The moment I saw Allan, I fancied him. It was 2011, and we met at the pub where I worked. After weeks of flirting, I asked him around for dinner.

Sex on the first date wasn’t normally my style, but with Allan I couldn’t control myself. We’d barely finished our mains before we were ripping each other’s clothes off.

Physically Allan was everything I liked: tall, dark, with strong shoulders.
