As his grandson becomes a memory, the heir may have to resort to other measures

When Prince Charles last saw his grandson, the boy was but a tiny infant. And when Archie’s parents the Duke and Duchess of Sussex jetted off to America in November 2019, just six months after Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was born, it was the last time the future king saw him in person.

“Charles sees Archie in the odd Zoom call – enough to see that he’s growing up to be the spitting image of young Harry now that he’s nearly two,” says a source. “Charles is becoming a softie in his old age and he gets very emotional when he sees that tuft of red hair on the screen. Seeing Archie takes Charles back to his own boys’ childhoods.”
