Harry’s latest attack is the final straw

Ever since Prince Harry first revealed he was looking to quit the royal family and flee to North America with his wife and son, Prince Charles has fought valiantly to keep his son at least on speaking terms.

According to insiders, he was less distraught that Harry wanted to ditch his royal duties but “more upset over the unshakeable suspicion that he had lost his youngest son forever”.

Our source says Charles has gone to “huge lengths” to appease Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex’s long list of demands in the hope it would bring them – and their children – back into the family fold.

But Woman’s Day has learned that even Harry’s strongest allies within the palace – Charles and his grandmother, the Queen, 95 – have been “tipped over the edge” by Harry last week implying on a podcast hosted by US actor Dax Shepard that their methods of parenting and the pressures of the monarchy contributed to his mental illness.

Harry, 36, leveled an extraordinary attack on his father, saying, “He’s treated me the way he was treated... I know this about his life, I also know that is connected to his parents [the Queen and Prince Philip].

“There’s a lot of genetic pain and suffering that gets passed on... We as parents should be doing the most we can to try and say, ‘That happened to me. I’m going to make sure it doesn’t happen to you.’”
