As the European headquarters of the United Nations, Geneva might be drowning in diplomats, but rest assured, it isn’t the boring city it’s sometimes made out to be.

There is actually a legal strain of marijuana here – stick that in your pipe and, well, smoke it!

Geneva’s public transport system is amazing and every hotel gives you a pass that lets you travel for free. First up, I tram it down to the Lake Front and take my obligatory selfie with the Jet d’Eau, Geneva’s famous water feature. I potter around the Les Bains Des Paquis (www.bains-des-paquis.ch), too. These public baths are uber cool and they let you swim in the lake itself all year round. This area is where all the grand hotels are, but just behind them lies the grittier side of Geneva, which is worth a look, especially as I’m keen to see how far I can quash this city’s reputation for being boring!
