But for Matthew, the onscreen romance was the result of years of him secretly petitioning writers to hook Chandler up with Monica after he fell in love with her 26 years ago.

According to our insiders, it was the set’s worst-kept secret that Matthew had harboured a barely concealed crush on his gorgeous co-star ever since meeting her in 1993, the year before their 10-season sitcom took over the world.
