Amazing Grace SILVER FERN'S GOLDEN MOMENT

After an incredible year, the teen athlete is living the dream

What were you doing when you were 19? It's the first thing that pops into our heads when chatting with new Silver Ferns shooting sensation Grace Nweke.

Over the course of the year, the young netballer has not only helped lead the Northern Mystics to their first ever ANZ Premiership win and made New Zealand's top team, but she's also started studying at university and even moved out of home.

"There are definitely times when I don't feel 19," she laughs on the phone to Woman's Day. “There's a lot going on, but I'm so lucky to be doing what I'm doing. I'm living the dream.

"I've learned the hard way sometimes. I've definitely made some mistakes! It can be hard when my friends are going out for the night and I have training in the morning or a game the next day.

"I've learned what my priorities are and where I want to be, so that means sacrifices - like my social life!"

But as she ran out on the court in her Silver Ferns debut against England last month, with her proud family watching from their Auckland home, all those missed nights out were 100% worth it.
