She’s trying hard to stay composed!
For most brides-to-be, the final few weeks before their big day are often a heady combination of excitement, nerves and last-minute stress. So for Meghan Markle, whose fairytale marriage to Prince Harry is one of the year’s most anticipated royal events, it’s not surprising to hear that her pre-wedding jitters have hit fever pitch.
Woman’s Day can reveal that while she can’t wait to say “I do” to her beau on May 19, she’s struggling to stay calm, complaining of sleepless nights and last-minute panics over all the details that she hopes will make the day unforgettably magical.
But with her best friend Jessica Mulroney jetting in to join her at a final dress fitting and her mum Doria Ragland due in London any day now, Meghan’s loved ones are rallying around, doing all they can to help keep her on an even keel.
“Meghan admits that she’s absolutely petrified,” tells a palace insider. “She’s used to the limelight and she’s naturally very confident, but this level of scrutiny is something new altogether. It’s overwhelming. Every day there’s more build-up and her nerves are threatening to get the better of her.
“Harry is trying to reassure her, but the truth is, he’s nervous as well. He would love nothing more than to be able to elope and marry Meghan away from the eyes of the world. But obviously that’s not possible for him. He is urging her to be strong and together they’ve made a pact to try to enjoy the craziness of it all.”
Couple time
In fact, each day Meghan, 36, and Harry, 33, make sure they have time together where they don’t discuss the wedding at all, tells our insider. They might go for a walk in the Kensington Palace grounds or sit down to watch a movie together.
