When Meghan Markle’s relationship with Prince Harry was sensationally revealed 12 months ago, talk quickly turned to her unconventional family. Palace aides scrambled to contain old family skeletons and minimise potential scandal as it emerged the divorced US actress had not only had a failed marriage, but also something of a dysfunctional upbringing.

However, the Suits star and Harry are now facing a fresh nightmare. Just weeks after her second meeting with the Queen, amid speculation that a royal engagement announcement is imminent, Meghan’s sister Samantha Markle has broken ranks again to speak out about her sibling.

“Samantha is the problem that just won’t go away,” a royal insider tells Woman’s Day. “Harry has promised Meghan that no matter what, he’ll stand by her, but she just feels terrified about what she’s going to do next. She seems intent on bringing her down.”

The Florida woman, 52, hasn’t seen her 36-year-old sister for more than a decade, but has recently written a book entitled The Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister. After previously claiming Meghan is a “social climber” with a “soft spot for gingers”, Samantha has now given a new interview, revealing more details of their younger years, as well as claiming she’s desperate to heal their fractured relationship. And as wedding speculation mounts, she’s even hoping to be there when her sister marries into the royal family.
