This Wellington dad could be the duke’s long-lost brother

Heads turn and eyebrows are raised wherever Brendon Tye goes. That’s because the strapping 37-year-old is a dead ringer for Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge!

The Wellington business owner jokes that if he had a dollar for every time someone mentioned the resemblance or asked for a photo, he’d have enough to fly to the UK to meet his royal doppelgänger in person.

“I can’t remember exactly when I first noticed that I looked like William, but it was probably in my teens,” says Brendon, the oldest of four sons and the only one in his family who looks like a British royal. “I’m around the same age as William and as we both got older, the resemblance became more and more noticeable.”

When the publicity around Wills and Kate’s 2011 wedding hit fever pitch, the fingerpointing and selfies increased. And they haven’t stopped since.

“There probably isn’t a day goes by that I don’t get approached by someone either saying, ‘Do you know you look like William?’ or, ‘Has anyone told you you look like the prince?’ People will ask for a photo and I joke that I don’t charge.”

“And then there are all those sneaky photos people take of you that you don’t know about,” laughs Brendon’s wife Kahla, 35.
