Is your Child Left-handed?

The findings of a recent research by a professor of psychology at the University of British Columbia may rob many people of their sleep. Prof. Stanley Caren’s research has revealed that left handers have a life-span shorter by nine years as compared with right handers. He found that in America the left-handed people on an average died at the age of 66 as against the right-handers who lived till 75.

The left-handed people were five times more likely to die of accident related injuries. This is not because those who are left-handed are more clumsy but because the world is designed for the right-hander’s safety and convenience.

This may appear alarming for the left-handed children especially whose parents may think gloomily as the world is geared to the right-handed. Even otherwise, the “lefty” is looked upon as a kind of ‘’freak’’.

Only a left-handed knows what a right-handed world is! It is awkward to be left-handed. No wonder, the French word for “left” “gauche”.
