Open Your Eyes
I am a Hindu woman who was married to an Orthodox Syrian Christian once upon a time. So for us it was an interfaith marriage. I am going to share my six pointers what young couples need to know before proceeding for such like marriages.
A majority of the amalgamated marriages are products of love and a relationship. To the young couples please note while getting into a relationship with a person who is from a different religion ensure that the person loves you irrespective of your religion. I cite my example, the man with whom I fell in love confided he cannot marry me as his family is conservative and will not accept any girl from another religion and I happily agreed to those terms as I was blind, deaf and dumb. Though he married me later, I guess the pressure from my side was heavier than his. Our courtship of two years was a rollercoaster ride with him breaking off with me several times and me patching up each time he resorted to emotional abuse. So I was to him a commodity to satisfy his sexual urges but behind closed doors not in open. Don’t get me wrong please I did not indulge in premarital sex but yes there were intimate physical contacts which I should have avoided instead of turning a blind eye and fall madly in a one-sided love affair.
