TRAINER Danielle Kenealy enjoyed a double on the day with the first of her victories coming with Humaniste in the hunt members’. The eight-year-old, who is owned by Kieran Johns and was ridden by Ella Herbison, was ultimately left on his own in the two-runner race when the other horse failed to complete.
“They went a very steady gallop and our horse would have liked some company as he was tracked by the other runner,” said Danielle of Humaniste, who has taken to pointing extremely well this season, having notched four wins from eight runs, somewhat surprising his connections in the process (see box, below).
Skilful Lord completed Danielle’s double when taking the intermediate under Will Biddick, for owner Mr B J Palfrey.
“It was lovely as Skilful Lord’s owner won his grandfather’s cup – the Stanley Carter Memorial Challenge Cup,” explained Danielle. “He is also a proper point-to-pointer as his owner hunts him all winter too.”
