SIXTEEN-YEAR-OLD A-level student Edward Vaughan broke his riding duck in style, landing not one but three wins at this meeting, in what is his first season point-to-pointing. His father, Tim Vaughan, sent him out first on five-year-old mare Mary's Fortune, who won the maiden (division one).
"She was bought from France, and had a little bit of form over there," said Tim. "She jumped out well, made all and was never headed. She is a horse we thought could do the job and thankfully she did."
Ed's second win came in the restricted riding seven-year-old gelding State of Fame.
"State of Fame ran a few times under Rules, and although he showed a bit of form, he didn't quite click," added Tim. "Ed gave him a lovely ride, dropped him in stone last, crept his way through and then he stayed on strongly. He looked quite impressive."
