Until the age of 18, I had never travelled in a civil (local) bus. My school buses were either a 'one ton' (vehicle capable of carrying a ton of ammunition in a battle field) or a ' three ton' (vehicle capable of carrying three tons of ammunition in a battle field). Travel to the parties was by a staff car or jeep. Hence, at the age of 18 when my parents decided to settle down in Kerala,l was in for a heavy duty shock!!!
If I remember correctly, the first bus I took was from Elamkulam (a place in Cochin) to a place called Ravipuram (another place in Cochin). Now I was told very clearly, once the buses come, the killi (bus attendant) will shout either 'Menaka' or 'Padma'. Get into the one where the killi shouts' Menaka'
I obediently did that. Another thing I was told was: stay in the front, never venture back as ladies don't go back. I followed that too.
Once inside the bus, I found a nice and empty seat by the window. It was beside the engine so I could see the whole bus from there. The conductor (the ticket seller) usually sat at the back. This time too, he sat at the back
He soon started collecting money from each traveller and giving him/her the ticket. I heard what most people (ladies) were saying
'Onu menaka'
'Onu Sarita'
'Onu Sangeeta'
'Rendu Kavita'

Mind Your Mind!
In our society, men have traditionally been labeled as providers and women as nurturers, but there is nothing wrong with being a CEO, wife, and mother all at once. In fact, it can be incredibly empowering. It's perfectly acceptable for a woman to be the primary caregiver in the home while her husband is out working, just as it's okay for a man to be a stay-at-home parent and take a break from work.
Two Heart Beats
That lingering kiss sealed all that was expected; she felt. Sunandana Chatterjee remembered what Jayanta Ghoshal said soon after the kiss.
A Leather Story
This is not a tall story. Rather, it's a \"toal\"(al) story. \"Toal\" means leather in Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu. Please read on.

EXPAT WOMEN SHOULD ALSO KEEP THIS IN MIND BECAUSE, ALTHOUGH PLACES LIKE DUBAI AND ABU DHABI CAN FEEL VERY MUCH LIKE HOME, IT PAYS TO DO YOUR RESEARCH ON THE LAW AND YOUR RIGHTS.
Love's Labour Lost
\"Why do we need a man if what he does is to make us women feel nothing while slogging to make a family? We can pick up our drink, and food and do things and look after ourselves.\"

Her Majesty MONI KRISHNANKUTTY
Say 'Her Majesty' and one sees, in one's mind, an elegant, grand lady with a charming smile and a caring heart. Probably and rightly so because only the queens could afford to be benevolent and had the 'luxury' to do charity. While Pazzage always made a conscious effort to find the queens amongst the commoners, this month's queen would leave its readers inspired, to say the least for Ms Moni Krishnankutty. A lady who proved that a large heart is all it takes and not money to do charity.
