Fiat India Automobiles (FIAPL), a 50:50 joint venture between Tata Motors and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has appointed Rajesh Khatri as its President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with immediate effect. Khatri has succeeded Ravi Gogia who was handling the job since 2019.
From a business perspective, the Ranjangaon plant in Maharashtra accounts for 25 percent of the total output of Tata Motors and serves the needs of both partners.
Prior to the new assignment, Khatri was holding charge as Vice President and Head, Operations of the passenger vehicle business at Tata Motors. He helped the company de-bottleneck operations and helped the brand triple its output from 1.7 lakh units to over half a million units in the last three years.
The Fiat India plant is being used by Tata Motors for Nexon SUV production (around 1.6 lakh units) and accounts for over 75-80 percent of the plant's output. 20,000 to 25,000 Jeep products roll out from this plant.
