TESTED 20.5.24, WILTSHIRE ON SALE JULY
Given that the Renault Scenic E-Tech Electric was awarded the 2024 Car of the Year title a couple of months ago, beating a very decent group of competitors, you would think this good-looking electric family crossover would have very little to prove when it arrives in UK showrooms next month. But there are already excellent class rivals established in the market (Kia Niro EV, Skoda Enyaq et al) and there's the well-publicised slowdown in EV sales to be overcome. Also vital to any new model here is how it copes with our uniquely bad roads, which is why this early local test is important.
Renault has made the Scenic line-up as simple as possible. There are three trim levels (Techno, Esprit Alpine and Iconic) with slightly different characters and prices that rise from £37,495 to £45,495. There are no options or packs.
Techno has every modern and practical feature you are likely to need: twin dashboard screens and impressively high-quality (not to mention 80% recycled) materials.
Esprit Alpine adds 20in wheels and sporty bits, mainly blue.
