INDONESIA HAS JOINED THE GLOBAL EFFORT TO accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles (EV). It conforms to their government's agenda because they are striving to achieve inclusive and sustainable transport on the way to their Net Zero Emission target by 2060. To support this initiative, Presidential decrees to fiscal incentives have been introduced to nurture and encourage the growth of the EV industry.
EV expansion is an ongoing endeavour in many Asian countries, including Indonesia. According to a press release issued by the Co-ordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, EV sales more than doubled from the previous year, reaching 17,826 units between January and July 2024.
To bolster the government's efforts, Asiabike Jakarta (ABJ) and the Periklindo Electric Vehicle Show (PEVS) will return to JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, from 29 April to 4 May 2025. This year's shows will display the latest innovations in the EV ecosystem, featuring bikes, electric motorcycles, electric bicycles, and electric cars, alongside products from supporting industries.
