Bharat NCAP Outlined; Implementation from October

ROAD SAFETY HAS SEEN a severe downward spiral and both the government and carmakers are taking more steps to ensure the safety of all road-users. One step in the right direction is a crash-test safety assessment program.

The government of India felt the need for a program, the Bharat New Car Assessment Program (BNCAP), designed to provide a fair, meaningful, and objective assessment of crash safety performance of cars on the basis of standard laboratory tests as per Automotive Industry Standard (AIS 197) which outlines the overall assessment method, vehicle selection procedure, and various tests and their assessment protocols with the aim to promote safer cars in the country and to help buyers make an informed decision.
