The Mini SUV Experience Electrified

FOR MOST PEOPLE WHO HEAR the word "Mini", the Mini Cooper hatchback comes to mind which isn't surprising as this iconic nameplate gained its reputation for being a hot pocketrocket with go-kart-like handling dynamics. Then those who want the Mini experience in a more practical body, there is the Countryman that ticks that box. Now, just like the Mini Cooper S, it has received a generation update and has arrived in India. The more important bit is that it's here in electric form for the first time. Is it a significant departure from the Countryman experience we're all familiar with? Let's find out.

As is the case with the Mini Cooper S, the latest iteration of the Mini Countryman goes for an evolutionary route in design, retaining much of the quirky silhouette that gives the SUV that Mini DNA. What has truly changed, however, is the earlier sharp creases being replaced with smooth lines all over, also helped by the closed-off front grille and aerodynamic 19-inch alloy wheels. There is a bit of body cladding all over to give it a more dominating personality. What truly grabs eyeballs is the way it welcomes you with the LED daytime running lights (DRL) giving a nice wink in the process. The front and rear lighting theme being customizable and the SUV being 13 millimetres longer and six millimetres taller than its predecessor rounds off an evolutionary change to the Mini Countryman.
