I've always believed life is all about making dreams come true. Taking on challenges, conquering them and moving on to new ones. It's all about hustling constantly and making progress each day to realise your dreams. And when we launched TURBOCHARGED two years ago, I was stepping into uncharted territory. At that time the world was just recovering from the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic and like it was for the rest of the world, 2020 wasn't the best of years for me either. But that's when I decided to venture out on my own. And 2020 is also when Volkswagen India made a strategic move, switching to turbocharged petrol engines for all its cars.
Volkswagen's TSI motors have tickled the fancy of enthusiasts for long and the TSI badge even on the humble Polo's rump was a sight for petrolheads. The refinement and acceleration offered by these force-fed engines and their overall sporty character is what ticks the right boxes for us, no? Turbocharging is in fact a win-win, whether you fancy pedal to metal driving, or merely like to feather the throttle in the interest of fuel efficiency. Enthusiasts the world over bow at the turbocharging altar and as a technology, turbocharging has worked wonders for pretty much every car maker across the globe.
2020 is also when Volkswagen introduced us to the uber-impressive 1.0 TSI and 1.5 TSI engines, in the BS6-compliant Polo and T-Roc respectively.
