Polestar 4

"WHAT EXACTLY IS the Polestar 4?" you might be wondering. It's not tall enough to be considered a typical electric SUV, nor does it have the low profile of a four-door coupé.

Moreover, it has already become known as "the electric car with no back window". Designer Max Missoni wanted a coupé-like roofline on a body that, due to its underfloor battery and need for generous rear head room, wasn't naturally suited to one. The solution?

Eliminate the rear window and use a digital camera to provide a rearward view.

The result is a car that looks like nothing else on sale. We could see the 4 being crossshopped against everything from SUVS (including the Audi Q6 e-tron, BMW iX3 and Porsche Macan Electric) to the BMW i5 and MercedesBenz EQE saloons.

Being a Polestar, it's electric-only, with power coming from a 94kWh (usable capacity) battery. You can choose between a dual-motor, four-wheel-drive setup with 536bhp, or a single motor delivering 268bhp to the rear wheels. Charging tops out at 200kW, which isn't exceptional, but an official range of 385 miles for the Single Motor version and 367 for the Dual Motor are competitive.
